K-12 SCHOOLS ARE EXPERIENCING A SIGNIFICANT RISE IN CYBER BREACHES

2018 revealed that school districts are not immune to the same types of data breaches and cybersecurity incidents plaguing the most technologically advanced and well-resourced corporations and government agencies. During 2018, the misuse and abuse of school technology and IT systems resulted in 122 publicly-disclosed K-12 cybersecurity incidents (across 38 states, including NJ). This equates to a rate of about one new publicly-reported incident every three days. The actual circumstances are far worse, given many institutions do not report incidents.

SERAPH ANNOUNCES NEW NATIONAL STUDENT CYBER PROTECTION PROGRAM

SERAPH announces a new program for schools and students. An Interactive Program To Protect Students Against Stalking And Online Predators. In 2006 a specialized Internet Safety program for student ages 7 to 14 was created by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium Foundation. The ISC is a international consortium of IT Security professionals in both private and public fields.

The Safe and Secure Online program was first introduced in the United Kingdom.  It is now taught to students in Canada, Hong Kong, and the United States. To date, the SAFE AND SECURE ONLINE has reached over 70,000 students worldwide.
