EXPERT GROUP RELEASES LIST OF U.S. SCHOOL SECURITY ISSUES FOR 2011

The SERAPH Research Team which provides a biyearly school safety report for Congress has released its “FIVE CRITICAL SCHOOL SECURITY ISSUES list.

The list was developed from interviews with teachers, school security personnel, police and principals from 120 school districts throughout the United States.

  1. LACK OF ACCURATE UNDERSTANDING OF SECURITY ISSUES – Many schools and school districts have performed poor assessments of their school safety as it relates to everyday management of the schools.

Schools have security audits performed which focus on physical security such as cameras and emergency plans. These audits do not address classroom management, sub cultural groups, educational objectives, special education, negative behavior cliques and sexual issues.

GANGS GROW IN SUBURBAN SCHOOLS

GANGS GROW IN SUBURBAN SCHOOLS

The US Department of Justice has released a report that states the growth of criminal gangs is increasing in all socioeconomic areas of the country.

SERAPH who provides school safety consulting to over 20,000 schools in the U.S. has observed a dramatic increase in gang recruitment in suburban schools.

Ron Holvey, Gang Interdiction Special Consultant for SERAPH explains the problem, “School officials have been caught off guard by the rise of gangs in suburban areas. Straight Edge, Juggalos, Crips and Bloods have all been recruiting juveniles in these areas of the country.”

Security Management Business Shield program

7 Ways Security Management Can Put Money Into Your Bottom Line

In the operation of any business, management decisions have a direct affect on profitability. In 1996, the SERAPH executive team decided to design a new approach to security management. Using the organizational concepts of Peter Drucker and the human behavior models of forensic psychology, we designed a new form of security management.

Legendary management sage Peter Drucker once said, “Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things”.

Due Diligence Mess

Investor Fraud and Ponzi schemes

Indictments for Ponzi schemes and investor fraud have been increasing everyday. While pundits, congress and financial experts pinpoint problems with regulatory agencies such as the SEC, the real problem centers on what I call the “Due Diligence Mess,” the way in which this process is handled within the legal and financial community.

After the recent sentencing of Bernard Madoff one of his victims made this statement to USA Today, “My due diligence was the SEC. What greater due diligence can you have than the SEC? They failed us.”
