On April 19th 2016 SERAPH and the KUNTAO Martial Arts Club Phoenixville will host the first annual Bataan – WW II South Pacific Veterans Annual Memorial March at VFW Post 7155 201 W 3rd Ave, Trappe, PA [6:30 to 7:30 p.m.]

 

The event will honor World War II veterans from the Bataan Death March and the South Pacific theater. A ceremony will be held along with a memorial march on the property.

 

Funds raised by the participants will be donated to VFW Post 7155 for veterans and the Kapitbayan Filipino-American Association for typhoon relief services.

Dale Yeager Forensic Profiler and costar of the new History Channel series ‘True Monsters’, has published a new Amazon Kindle book for parents entitled “3 Myths About Bullying”.

Yeager who worked for the Boulder District Attorney’s office in 1997 on the original murder investigation of JonBenet Ramsey, has released an e-book on bullying titled “3 Myths About Bullying” What Every Parent and Grandparent Should know to Protect Children and Grandchildren. The book focuses on inaccurate information about bullying that Yeager says can endanger children.

A new training program entitled the SCHOOL SAFETY ASSESSMENT CERTIFICATION PROGRAM which provides schools with federal level training to assist in securing Special Education funding has been announced today.

 

The new program trains and certifies school based personnel to audit their safety, emergency management and Special Education systems – known by the U.S. Department of Education as a Climate Assessment. This assessment provides important documentation for schools to apply for Federal grant monies.

 

Feds Warn Schools On Bullying Of Kids With Disabilities IDEA Crackdown

In response to a record number of complaints about bullying, U.S. Department of Education officials sent out a detailed letter to the nation’s schools outlining their legal responsibilities to students with disabilities.

 

The U.S. Department of Education said in a letter to school officials this week that they are obligated under federal law to respond immediately when bullying of students with disabilities is suspected and act to halt attacks and prevent any recurrence.

 

The letter comes after an ever-increasing number of complaints and law suits related to bullying of special needs students have occurred in recent years.

The U.S. Department of Education‘s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) released today a list of the higher education institutions under investigation for possible violations of federal law over the handling of sexual violence and harassment complaints.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in all education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance. In the past, Department officials confirmed individual Title IX investigations at institutions, but today’s list is the first comprehensive look at which campuses are under review by OCR for possible violations of the law’s requirements around sexual violence.
