One in Four College Women Will Be Raped Before They Graduate, According to Justice Department Study

The SERAPH Research Team, consisting of education and law enforcement experts, has discovered five reasons for unsafe college campuses.

The SERAPH Research Team provides a bi-yearly school-safety report for Congress and in 2006 prepared an assessment of the “The Virginia Tech Review Panel Report”.

In its analysis of security concerns at colleges and universities across the country, SERAPH has determined:

1. Since the Columbine massacre in 1999, police departments across the United States have been training in “active shooter” response. This has been a well-established practice for use in public [K-12] schools.

EXPERT GROUP RELEASES FIVE CRITICAL U.S. SCHOOL SECURITY ISSUES LIST FOR 2010-2011

The SERAPH Research Team http://www.seraph.net/ which provides a biyearly school safety report for Congress has released its “FIVE CRITICAL SCHOOL SECURITY ISSUES list.

The list was developed from interviews with teachers, school security personnel, police and principals from 120 school districts throughout the United States.

  1. LACK OF ACCURATE UNDERSTANDING OF SECURITY ISSUES – Many schools and school districts have performed poor assessments of their school safety as it relates to everyday management of the schools.  

Schools have security audits performed which focus on physical security such as cameras and emergency plans. These audits do not address classroom management, sub cultural groups, educational objectives, special education, negative behavior cliques and sexual issues.

2 million employees of U.S. businesses are victimized each year. While at work employees suffered 396,000 aggravated assaults, 84,000 robberies, 1,000 homicides and 51,000 rapes and sexual assaults against women.

Criminal analyst, Dale Yeager believes that most violence committed on the job could be stopped with proper training and management changes.

Juggalos are considered gangs in many states and communities and Police Agencies say members have committed several crimes, “they (Juggalos) have been responsible for a tremendous amount of violence especially against police officers”, says Criminal Analyst Dale Yeager.

Yeager was the keynote speaker at the University at Buffalo’s North Campus Thursday for the 7th annual Safe Schools seminar. He was educating, educators from Local School Districts and members of local Law Enforcement, about the gang and how to prevent them from spreading. It’s a message some say all educators and parents should hear.

UB to Host Seventh Annual Safe Schools Initiative Seminar March 11

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo will host the seventh annual Safe Schools Initiative Seminar from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 11 in the Center for the Arts on the UB North Campus.

This years program will provide a detailed look at the development of gangs and cliques through school-related problems. In particular, it will review how the lack of an effective truancy program provides the impetus for the development of negative-behavior cliques in school and how these cliques develop into organized gangs. This program will address techniques for dealing with gangs in communities and schools, and provide current information on street gang involvement in schools and the rise of negative youth movements, such as Straight Edge, and the increasing danger of Juggalos.
