New research suggests that as students become more popular and climb the social hierarchy of middle and high school, they are at increased risk for gossip, harassment and even physical attacks from rivals competing for status.

And the adverse consequences of that bullying — including increased depression, anxiety and anger, and decreased school attachment — are magnified the more popular the victim, according to the paper published in April’s American Sociological Review.

The recent knife attack at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville PA by student Alex Hribal is another in a long line of school crimesNewtown Public School District Sandy Hook Elementary, Virginia Tech and Columbine – to name a few.

 

But what are the facts?

  • Attack occurred just before the first class was scheduled to begin.

  • Alex Hribal 16-year-old male suspect –used two kitchen knives.

  • 22 injured including Capital Asset Protection security guard John Resetar.

SERAPH President Dale Yeager lectured recently at Peirce College in Philadelphia on Business Leadership and the Peter Drucker Management model for department heads and undergraduate students.

“I was a student of Dr. Drucker for many years.” states Yeager. “Sharing the Drucker model of true leadership is one of my passions. So many organizations suffer from weakness the weakness of the ‘Leaders’.”

The top American official at the United Nations’ World Intellectual Property Organization has accused its Director General, Francis Gurry, of “serious misconduct”  and “violations of national and international law” in connection with a bizarre series of alleged 2008 burglaries of staffers’ offices to obtain samples of their DNA.

The official, James Pooley, is one of Gurry’s four top deputies, and also a highly regarded U.S. patent lawyer, who was nominated for his WIPO job by the Obama Administration in 2009.

THE SCHOOL

ü  Shooter Adam Lanza arrived at the front of school UNNOTICED parking next to a NO PARKING ZONE

 

ü  Principal & psychologist were in a conference room and went to investigate NOISES in the Hallway resulting in their death. They sensed danger as Principal told others in the conference to stay put.  A PHONE in this room could have been used to announce Lockdown situation via intercom

 

ü  Main Office staff heard glass breaking and observed the shooter. Did not secure office doors or initiate lockdown.
